There’s nothing worse than leaving the house, mere minutes after spraying your go-to perfume, and feeling like it’s all faded already.
Especially considering how expensive perfumes can be, we want to feel like we’re getting our money’s worth. But there has to be a better way than spraying half the bottle on our body and hoping we don’t fumigate the room in the process.
And luckily, there are ways to keep the scent lingering on your skin long past the entrance to the party.
ONE: START WITH CLEAN, HYDRATED SKIN:
The best time to apply perfume – and keep the scent – is when you’re fresh out the shower and moisturized your skin. This allows the scent to lock in. Especially after a hot shower, your pores are open and will soak up the scent better, allowing your perfume to last much longer than a regular application.
TWO: STOP RUBBING YOUR WRISTS TOGETHER:
This one was a shock to us too! It’s something that we all do almost instinctively, but rubbing your wrists together isn’t going to make the scent last longer.
In fact, it’ll actually break up the perfume and make the scent fade even more quickly. Besides that, rubbing your wrists together actually changes the way the scent interacts on your skin.
So next time, don’t skip the wrists when you’re spraying – but just allow the perfume to dry naturally rather than rubbing it in for good measure.
THREE: SMART PERFUME STORAGE:
How is there a smart way to store your perfume? That was our question too! But apparently where you keep your perfume has everything to do with how it smells and how long it lasts on your skin! Who knew?
Heat and light can affect the ingredients in your perfume, changing the scene of your perfume. Avoid storing your perfume bottles in damp, warm places (like the bathroom, where the humid air can infiltrate the bottle!), and keep it out of direct sunlight, like in front of your window.
Storing your perfume correctly will make your expensive scents last longer, both in the bottle and on your skin!
